In 2019 Lower Austria’s annual State Exhibition will take place in the city of Wiener Neustadt. It is being held in two very special main locations: the historic casemates dating back to the 16th century and the exhibition venue “St. Peter an der Sperr”, a former monastery with an adjacent church.Ingenos.Gobiet was charged with project control and monitoring, a task we are carrying out together with our project partners AHP Architekturhaus Planungs- GmbH.

The theme being mobility, motion and transport, the visitors learn more about the town’s development from Habsburg Empire to the present. Once one of the most strongly fortified cities of Habsburg Austria, the casemates were added to the town’s walls between 1551 and 1557 in order to construct a gun emplacement and provide more storage space for the troops. In preparation of the State Exhibition, the heritage-protected construction will undergo extensive refurbishment. Additional and high-quality exhibition space will also be created.

The second venue “St. Peter”, consisting of the museum building, the church’s nave as well as the historic cloister, will serve as atmospheric exhibition space. Therefore it will also undergo substantial renovations and construction measures in order to significantly improve indoor climate, humidity as well as air exchange will be taken. Furthermore, a new entrance portal will be built and the forecourt with the adjacent “Mayor’s Garden” will undergo restructuring. All construction works and renovations are scheduled for completion in November 2018.
